There are plenty of headlines about AI induced psychosis, and they all tend follow a similar pattern:

Include a basic definition of what you consider trolling. Because people seem to deem a huge variety of things trolling. Silly comments are fine but no direct personal insults.

I heard about Lemmy from Mental Outlaw and it caught my interest. The Reddit API situation made me finally decide to drop Reddit and make an account on lemmy.world. I haven’t turned back since.

And why?

I see marriage as a traditional legal binding that can alter your life significantly depending on your state and country.

I always found people who take pictures with the middle finger as a trashy gesture. I don’t and never know who they’re trying to tell off but it’s out of no where and just stupid. It doesn’t offend me, I just find it a pointless gesture and therefore - trashy.

Feel like I’m alone in the world sometimes. I keep seeing ads and videos and things for wives whose husbands are emotionally unavailable or checked out or whatever. But I’m the husband and she is the checked out one or unavailable one. What is there for people like me or situations like mine? Is our situation so abnormal that no one cares? So atypical that there is no help for me or for us? Is anything out there targeted towards me and mine or am I just screwed? Am I alone in this shit?

My big one is that they need to stop asking why I applied for their company. The real answer is I want a new job, and I blasted out a hundred applications. I didn’t choose your company specifically.

Not Lemmy. Not Reddit.

A lot of people kiss their pets or non-human animals in general. I find that very weird. I understand that it is a sign of affection but it seems so off. One reason is that I doubt whether animals really understand this. Also it seems to be on a level of intimacy to me that I find weird sharing with a pet. Not necessarily romantically or sexually (that would be even more weird and wrong and probably illegal). But it is still “more”. I am not sure whether I can really explain why exactly I find that weird.

I see it everywhere. At first I thought these people were just paranoid, afraid that people would interpret a naked clothesline as “my owner doesn’t even use me. Take me!”. But maybe it’s a trend? I don’t know.

I vote for Slippy Toad. He tries to help but ends up getting in the way more often than not. But you can’t really get mad at him because he’s doing his best.

Hey guys. Im trying to fully move to lemmy. Unfortunately many subreddits I was using - are not represented on lemmy. So I figured I would just sync content from reddit for those communities - so I scripted auto-reposter of top most popular reddit posts to lemmy.

OK, so a lot of people have a recurring dream where you have to go back to high school because you missed a graduation requirement, even though you’re a grown-ass adult. I’ve heard a lot of Gen Z people confuse dystopian and utopian. Usually I don’t care about “correct” language at all, I’d even argue languages that change are alive and changes are often invisible to those with rigid or discriminatory thinking. I don’t understand the modlog behaviour and didn’t find any posts explaining it in a search, so I’m hoping someone more familiar with the fediverse backend(s) can explain it. General answers would be great, but I’ll put the specific context I’m not understanding as well in case that’s relevant:

Right now there is high bot activity on Reddit, but the high amount of users make it tolerable to some extent.

How often do you cook? Have the same few things in rotation? Cook for anyone else too? Prep multiple days at a time or cook every day? I personally work a weird schedule so I prep food 5 days at a time. Also only eat one big meal a day. That could be anything in my dozenish meals rotation. I prep for my girlfriend too but shes simple. For her I cut up some vegetables (bell peppers, cauliflower, celery and carrots usually) then cook up a couple pounds of seasoned meat (chicken breast or 90/10 ground beef). What about you?

Generations are said to have about the same Zeitgeist and experiences growing up, but honestly, the Zeitgeist culture from 1998 to 2008 is way different than from 2008 onwards. Early and late gen z also behaves completely different overall. Its not a matter of age and maturety.

I’ve read some of Ed Zitron’s long posts on why the AI industry is a bubble that will never be profitable (and will bring down a lot of companies and investors), and one of the recurring themes is that the AI companies are trying to capture growing market share in an industry where their marginal profits are still negative, and that any increase in revenue necessarily increases their costs of providing their services.

I will be doing solo horseback riding soon and my mom wants me to have something on my person during the rides so she can check on me and my location without me needing to answer a text or phone call. It’s purely a safety thing and exclusively for me when I’m riding alone. Outside of riding, the tech will be turned off and stored with my riding stuff.

If physical or mental health issues bar you I’d consider that different. I never really understood how you can live your life being a NEET. Its a term I’ve known about for awhile but only recently remembered was a thing. Do you have bills? Do you have autonomy in general? Whats the living situation look like? Is the term offensive? I’m a millennial and think I got the perfect moment in history, school was only school no computers and MSN etc until highschool. There was no mobile phones until then too. (I mean for kids)

My parents told me that in China, they get paid once a month. And its a common story where employers refuse to pay their employees, and authorities kinda suck at doing anything about it…

In my case, the albums that have become my favorites are the ones I feel I absolutely have to listen to from start to finish. Of course, there are standout tracks, and some, though good, might pale in comparison to others. But it’s the experience of listening to the entire album that captivates me.

I’ve just been using Windows Defender, but the number of false positives and the lack of autonomy in dealing with them is making me wanna look elsewhere.

I was thinking, there’s a ton of rooftop space on top of nyc apartment buildings, and it’s often pretty easy to get onto the roofs. Are there any potted plants i can leave up there that need zero care and are good for local pollinators or native wildlife or whatever?

I had way too much negative interaction latelly. I think there is no value in getting inflammed by politics, or venting all your negative emotions.

Many people on lemmy.ml deeply respect and admire authoritarian governments and organizations.

I like the idea of something like Notion but I have no idea how I would preserve my data or ever migrate it. I imagine you have to have some pretty complex stuff going on to have rich text, images, databases, macros and whatever else all in a file or notebook. Getting it out in some sort of format may not be too hard, but how would you ever migrate that to new software?

Hi, I’m currently on a MacBook Air M2 8/256 and I’m running out of disk space. System is too large. I love macOS but I’d love to try out something new, such as Fedora and maybe switch to Fedora long-term.
