So I had my septoplasty today, and I admit it, the surgery wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. Honestly, I barely remember anything about being in the OR, other than what it looked like. I don’t remember how I got put to sleep, I feel like maybe I wore a mask, but at the same time, can’t remember.
So it is currently 1:30 am and I just cannot sleep. I’m getting a septoplasty tomorrow and that’s all I’ve been thinking about. I’m actually not as nervous now as I was before, but still worried about how everything will go.
Yesterday I cooked nine pork chops. Now I have to portion and freeze six of them today. Then I’m cutting up a whole chicken to make a dish called Forty Cloves and a Chicken. And finally I get to bake my bread this afternoon.
It’s called “pigeon-toeing”, I think. I do it all the time because I can feel a positive difference. The thing is, I have no idea why. I always assumed it was biomechanical but there may be a neuropsychological component
So I’m getting a Septoplasty next week, and I am really nervous about it. Will it hurt? Will I say something stupid under anesthesia? Will my family coddle me afterwards? There are so many concerns I have that make me want to back out.
I am off call. Have successful sourdough bread rising in the refrigerator. Ate breakfast. Introduced Bert to the herd (he’s back in his room now). About to make coffee and shower. Then out into the world to do grocery shopping. Other than the crowds I actually enjoy grocery shopping. Possibly because I enjoy cooking. Hoping to get in and out as early as possible.
Title says it all. What really irks you that you don’t get to complain about much without catching some glances? Seriously, get as passionate as you’d like. I assume you’re an expert.
So today, my sister came home from snowplowing/shoveling my dad’s house. She was all excited because my dad gave her $30 for doing it, and my mom gave her 20. They talked to her afterwards about how it went and how she felt. I’m used to her getting money for stuff like this, but today my parents gave it to her in front of me, and I’ve been really upset ever since.
My wife is not a fan of whole wheat. And my whole wheat starter added a whole lot of flavor to the bread. So I had to toss Jonathan. But I would like to introduce you to my new All Purpose flour starter, Betty White!
With other neurodivergents, I feel like we explain what we mean in more detail. If not that, the other one recognizes the lacking detail, asks about it, and it gets cleared up.
So yesterday my mom took me for allergy testing (it was just an evaluation). I have a Septoplasty scheduled in two weeks for my deviated septum and constant post nasal drip, but my mom insisted I get tested for allergies as well. While I was there, they had me do a breathing test which revealed an obstruction in my airway. Because of this, they put me on Trellegy for two weeks.
This is Jonathan! He was recently fed to give me enough starter to bake this weekend and then returned to his freshly cleaned jar. Now he is back in the refrigerator napping until next week.
Asking because my gf has ADHD and she told me that, the first time she took ritalin (methylphenidate), she thought to herself “So this is what it feels like to not have ADHD?”
I’m down to my last clean pair and I’d love to not have to buy a ton more of these down the line. They’re essential for any time I end up at a music-centric event, or really most events that include music. I’ll be scrolling through the earplug recommendations in this community too
Hi all, not sure if posts like this are allowed here but: I’m a dad to a 7 year old on the “less severe” end of the spectrum (is that the right way to phrase it?) and while he generally lives a pretty normal life he’s recently started having trouble dealing with emotional changes.
Things like:
- adjusting to changes in his schedule (like a school lesson has to be changed)
- having a disagreement with someone
- when he or a group he is part of loses at something (he takes board/card games too seriously and holds himself personally responsible for losing)
Ok, so I know I’m getting overly excited, but I am just so proud of myself tonight. We had a recruiting event for cross country and were invited to dinner / bonding activities with the team. Two women recruits were staying overnight in a teammates dorm. Our coach was going to be there for dinner/bonding, which was great as he and I weren’t really getting along the last two weeks because he apparently didn’t like that I am a creature of habit lol. But he and I were very civil last night during dinner and after team bonding.
All my life, for whatever stupid reason, I’ve always had this intense discomfort when it comes to sleeping in. I’m not just talking about during the week and being late, I’m talking about on the weekends too when I’m allowed to sleep in.
It’s cooking day! Baking some baguettes (I keep making these so I can practice my shaping), some sandwich bread and making a chicken and white bean soup.
For contexts, I have sensory issues with foods where I find it difficult to encourage myself eating as much of the variety. My diet isn’t exactly healthy and it tends to be processed food I eat which is often my ‘Safe Food’ as it doesn’t have a terrible taste and textures for me. Not the best but it’s okay-ish where I at least I have ate something rather than have nothing at all.
I have not been able to be alone all week. I hate everything right now. Almost everything. This is Mallow. We think someone dumped him. Trying to convince him to come in and be an indoor kitty.
What do you do with someone who hurt you because of your autistic behavior? It could be someone or even a group who bullied, gaslighted, or mobbed you in the past. What do you do if you meet them somewhere?
I got the date right! Made some more ugly baguettes. These are the five minute baguettes and are not supposed to look perfect. You can see how the oven I used bakes unevenly. I don’t usually use this one for bread baking. But I was trying to get ready for work at the same time.
