Climbing 5.5 meters during a drive of 117 meters lasting 90 minutes took the rover Northeast to new territory. Post drive images were acquired on sol 1835 and 1836. Maps are included in the comments to this post.

Ingenuity helicopter flew for a total of 2 hours, 8 minutes and 48 seconds over 1,004 days on Mars, flying more than 17 kilometers (11 miles) during its 72 flights.
In this image, taken on June 1, 2019, an engineer in the Spacecraft Assembly Facility’s High Bay 1 at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, can be seen working on the exposed belly of the Mars 2020 rover. It has been inverted to allow JPL’s engineers and technicians easier access. The front of the rover is on camera left. The engineer is inspecting wiring directly above the Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment (MOXIE) instrument. MOXIE will demonstrate a way that future explorers might produce oxygen from the Martian atmosphere for propellant and for breathing.

NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover acquired this image on Dec. 5, 2025 (Sol 1704) at the local mean solar time of 12:33:53, using its onboard Left Navigation Camera (Navcam). The camera is located high on the rover’s mast and aids in driving.

Looking at the other images gathered, it appears ad though they were inspecting the large round SuperCam window. The rover fires its laser at rocks and soils through that window, using its optics to analyze its targets by optical emission, and to acquire images of the targets using its RMI camera (Remote Microscopic Imager).

Perseverance rover acquired the base images for this composite image using its Right Mastcam-Z camera. Mastcam-Z is a pair of cameras located high on the rover’s mast.
Looking back at the wheel tracks after a 67 minute drive, traversing ~44 meters (144 ft), and climbing ~9 meters (~30 feet). The tilt at the end of the drive was 18.7°
We don’t have all of the usual images back for this one yet, but clearly this abraded patch is a beautiful mess. The abrasion process clearly introduced some new fractures into the rock (before and after shots below):

Last night Perseverance rover captured a set of images featuring Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS during the night of Sol 1642 (October 3, 2025). The images have been stacked, aligned, and annotated Simeon Schmauß. The attached animated GIF reveals a very faint smudge located in the constellation ‘Bootes’. The predicted position from Stellarium matches up with the smudge perfectly using the orbit parameters of Mars and the interstellar visitor. The comet was approximately 29 million kilometers (18 million miles) from Mars when these images were acquired.
NASA’s Perseverance rover captured this view of Deimos, the smaller of Mars’ two moons, shining in the sky at 4:27 a.m. local time on March 1, 2025, the 1433rd Martian day, or sol, of the mission. In the dark before dawn, the rover’s left navigation camera used its maximum long-exposure time of 3.28 seconds for each of 16 individual shots, all of which were combined onboard the camera into a single image that was later sent to Earth. In total, the image represents an exposure time of about 52 seconds. The sun was about 13° below the horizon when this image was captured.
