Whoa, that is some authentic art style there!
I am curious to see more of how they handle action scenes, because they have clearly skimped on the framerate and movement for regular scenes.
It can totally work, can’t tell until we see it all come together.
What TF did they do to it… Yuck
It looks like they’re matching the art style of the original manga.
Honestly, even if it was its own thing, I don’t mind seeing something different rather than just doing the same thing again.
I don’t have problem with the art style. But the music I absolutely hate. Ghost in the shell is Dystopian in every sense. It’s dark, it’s gritty, hope is dwindelling the world. Lines between man and machine is thin. Humanity is something people have to find.
I hate this rousing music. Even ScarJo adaptation knew and the gritty part down.
I think the art could have been a nice change of pace. And orangutan Aramaki could have been funny. But just from the trailer I’m seeing a lot of fan service, so I’m guessing the full movie will be even worse. The other movies certainly didn’t shy away from it, but with a change in art style I was hoping for one adaptation that wasn’t pandering to horny folks.
I totally get your point and I’m often taking the same position
But, I think, in the context of GitS it’s actually a “4th wall body horror” rather than fan service.
She’s a cyborg. IIRC in first anime there is a piece where she starts wondering how human she still is. But if she looks like a human, acts like a human, makes you react to her body like a human, is she still a robot? And in a wider take, the story of the antagonist also asks us where the line between a person and an object lies.
It’s just that this question is not asked directly
the of manga was horny as fuck. If anything I would expect this to tone it down considerably compared to the manga
