So far these trailers aren’t doing this show any favors. Everyone looks far too pretty, clean, and well groomed. Even the 1970s version had far more visible dirt and sweat.

These people were pioneers. It was a very difficult life filled with work from dusk until dawn so you didn’t starve to death. Laura and her family actually lived in a dirt dugout in the side of a hill until they could build their cabin. They were poor and hungry. People got sick and died. The crops Ma and Pa planted died. Repeatedly.

This life didn’t look like the cover of a romance novel. Maybe the trailers aren’t an accurate reflection of this new series, but these first two have sold it as some old west fantasy.
