How do you reduce score on AI detectors?

Community iconc/nostupidquestions@lemmy.world by
PlzGibHugs@piefed.ca

My university uses AI detectors when marking papers, and almost any result higher than 0% can cause lost grades. As anyone whose used one of these tools will know, they have an extremely high false positive rate, meaning that while I don’t use AI (and can’t, given the technical nature of the papers) I still lose marks. Is there any way to decrease the rate of false positives without completely destroying the structure and flow of a paper?

Hi, so been working on this for a week but not really happy with the solutions I find as they seem to be done by induviduals who rely heavily on ai. I got wireguard easy going and can remotly connect which is great but id love to be able to route any internet traffic to and from the wireguard clients to go though another server while filtering my local onsite services. Felt that if i can crack this i dont need to rely on tailscale. The end goal is to have no reliance on tailscale as i am preparing for the eventual enshitification.

Archipelago View by Venny Soldan-Brofeldt (1900)

Community iconc/artporn@piefed.social by
perishthethought@piefed.social
Painting named "Archipelago View" by Venny Soldan-Brofeldt featuring sail boats and a large rocky island.

Wendla Irene Soldan-Brofeldt, known as Venny was a Finnish painter, illustrator, graphic artist, wood sculptor and jewelry designer. She belonged to the Swedish speaking population of Finland. She was born as Wendla Irene Soldan. Her father, August Fredrik Soldan, was the Director of the Mint of Finland. Her mother, Marie Müller, was German. Swedish was spoken at home. Her desire to become an artist received her family’s wholehearted support. From 1880 to 1884, she initially attended the drawing school of the Finnish Art Association (now the Academy of Fine Arts), but also studied privately with Maria Wiik and attended classes in St.Petersburg from 1883 to 1885. She was briefly a student at the Académie Colarossi in Paris on two occasions. She also made study trips to Spain and Italy with the money she earned copying old classics. Upon returning to Helsinki, she became an art teacher.

Advice on an early-2015 Macbook Air (8GB)

Community iconc/linux@lemmy.world by
wjrii@lemmy.world

I am planning to use this as a lightweight travel machine, smaller than my ThinkPad P15v and better than the Chrome-Tab I frankensteined into a linux tablet. I got the Macbook (in great physical condition), a new battery, and a USB-C to magsafe2 adapter for about USD 85. I’m currently calibrating the new battery, which I’m doing in EoL MacOS Monterey, but right now the plan is to replace it with MX Linux, which on the Live USB already had the Broadcom Wifi drivers. I also like Snapless distros using apt and KDE Plasma. Then, finally, I used to daily Mepis Linux years and years ago, so part of me was pleased it sort of lives on. I run Tuxedo OS on a couple of other machines, so if there’s some very good reason to, I would be willing to take my chances that getting the Wifi up and running would go smoothly. Any very strong thoughts about distros on this hardware?
